IIBSA at the EU #TikkunTech Hackathon in Brussels

At the EU #TikkunTech Hackathon in Brussels (29–30 September 2026), IIBSA Chair Dr. Kim Robin Stoller took part in a team of international experts to develop a tool to combat antisemitism.

Organised by the European Commission together with the World Jewish Congress, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, PPMI and AWO, the hackathon brought together more than 120 tech experts, researchers, civil society representatives and Jewish community experts to develop digital tools against online antisemitism and antisemitic bias in AI.

Dr. Stoller’s team developed an analysis tool that tests how resilient large language models (LLMs) are against being instrumentalised to generate antisemitic content. Testing and evaluation run along 30 categories, across the languages of the EU and the most important AI LLM providers, because antisemitism does not stop at language borders, and neither should safeguards.

The programme opened with a panel featuring Yfat Barak-Cheney (Executive Director, WJC Technology and Human Rights Institute) and Katharina von Schnurbein, the European Commission’s Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, who also chaired the jury. Commissioner Magnus Brunner (Internal Affairs and Migration), patron of the event, presented the awards. Thank you for creating this space for exchange between technology, research and civil society.

Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team, to the organisers and to everyone who made these two intense days possible.

Tech can fuel hate. It can also help us fight it.
