On December 11 2025 IIBSA held an Expert Briefing on “Journalism, Antisemitism & Islamism in the MENA-EURO Region”.
With several experts from MENA-Region and Germany we explored how journalism is addressing the twin challenges of Antisemitism and Islamism. We discussed:
- What kinds of freedoms exist in the respective countries to report on antisemitism, Islamism, and Israel?
- How do antisemitic tropes and Islamist narratives intersect in contemporary media coverage within the MENA‑EURO region?
- What are the most common forms of bias found in news reporting today?
- What are the observable consequences of negative framing on social cohesion and policy debates?
